Mar 9, 2003...The four words of Lent
The Gospel of today is taken from 1st chapter of the book of Mark...it spoke of Jesus praying at the desert. However, the priest included in his homily the other readings which spoke of lent in totality.
1. Water - is life, signifies cleansing.
2. Desert - is a place of prayer, it is essential that one experiences darkness to be near the Spirit. The Light is our goal, the desert is our way to the Light.
3. Rainbow - is Hope in moments of loneliness, a beautiful sight after a rain, it's Salvation after our struggle in this life.
4. Jesus - is the Son of God, is God Himself who takes the body of man so we will have a living example to find our way to Heaven.
It spoke of two things: first, Jesus as the beginning of the Gospel and second, Jesus as the Good News and the Gospel Himself. He is the message of God.
Season of Lent therefore is the time when we appreciate life, the time for Penance, fasting and abstenence, for Praying, for hoping for the Sunlight after the rain, to find the rainbow who is Jesus.
Jesus shows how beautiful we are, and how good we can become...May I always look for you Jesus...my life...my rainbow... |
